The Adelaide Vales Triathlon Club is a new force in South Australian Triathlon. The Club was re-named (from Southern Vales) and re-invigorated with a new emphasis after the long standing Southern Vales Triathlon Club was faced with extinction in 2006.
Today, the Adelaide Vales Triathlon Club still continues many of the old traditions of the Southern Vales Triathlon Club (such as the Craig Lack Memorial Events and club Trophies as well as the Adam Johnson Memorial Trophy) and also brings some new ideas and energy to the sport.
The club's training is now based all over Adelaide and we have a membership base that reflects this - whilst the majority of our members are inner city suburbs based, we also have many members living and training in the outer Suburbs (Northern and Southern).
With a culture of inclusion and participation the club has grown from just 7 members in 2006 to over 136 members in 2009 and growing. The Club has a wide range of members and especially welcomes beginners of all ages as well as social members. That's not to say that the club does not have its fair share of "elite" athletes, with many of the regular top 5 male and female competitors as well as age group winners at local events coming from the club - these athletes often can be seen passing on tips and support to our newer club members.
The Adelaide Vales Triathlon Club also plays an important role in contributing back to the wider triathlon and general community. Adelaide Vales Triathlon Club are the race organizers for the very successful Murray-Man Long Course Triathlon and Craig Lack Memorial Aquathlon. The Club also hold regular fundraisers for charity organizations.
Current members of Adelaide Vale Triathlon Club receive many benefits - organized free training sessions, free "members only" recovery tent at most events, Club discount card (10-20% from our wonderful sponsors), ability to purchase heavily discounted race and training gear, regular social functions, training tips and advice to name a few.
If you are new to the sport of Triathlon, or are looking to join a club for the first time, please accept our invitation to come and join us.
